SAMAERO Company Pte Ltd was established in 1977 by "SAMCO" Singapore Aerospace Maintenance Company Pte Ltd (currently known as ST Aerospace Engineering Pte Ltd) and AEROSPATIALE Helicopter Division (currently known as Eurocopter) with shareholding of 51% and 49% respectively.
 
In 1978, SAMAERO began its operations in Seletar and moved to the current building at Loyang Way in 1988.

With the rapid expansion, ESEA is returning to Seletar at the newly redeveloped 300 hectare Seletar Aerospace Park in 4th quarter 2010.

In year 2000, SAMAERO was renamed Eurocopter South East Asia (ESEA). 
Current shareholding status: Eurocopter 75%; ST Aerospace 25%.
